Mozaffari Hospital
According to Abu al-Abbas Mo’in al-Din Zarkub Shirazi, Mozaffari hospital was built by the order of Atabak Muzaffar al-Din Abu Bakr ibn Sa’d Zangi in the “Darwazeh Salm” area in the southeast of Shiraz (Iran) and in the “Lab Ab” neighborhood around 971 AD.
This Hospital became miserable after the death of Abesh Khatoon, the last ruler of Atabakan Fars. But by the order of “Rashid al-Din Fazlullah Hamedani”, the minister of “Ilkhani”, with the addition of endowments and large amounts of money and valuable goods and the election of “Mahmoud bin Elias Shirazi” to the management of this hospital, growth and prosperity returned to this medical center.
Great physicians such as “Zia al-Din Massoud Tabib ibn Mosleh Kazuni”, “Kamal al-Din Abu al-Khair ibn Mosleh Kazeruni” and “Allama Qutbuddin Shirazi” worked in Mozaffari Hospital.
Unfortunately, the life of Mozaffari Hospital was short and with the murder of “Khajeh Rashid al-Din Fazlullah” in 1318 AD, all property and endowments were looted and this hospital was completely destroyed. Of course, in the Atabakan period, except for Mozaffari Hospital, two hospitals were built with the names of “Amir Moqarrabuddin” and “Fakhruddin Abu Bakr” hospitals, from the ministers of “Atabak Abu Bakr bin Saad” in Shiraz.
